9. Searching for Images
Keyword searching is the most effective way to locate images, and will retrieve images with the keyword(s) appearing anywhere in the descriptive data. From the Group Workspace:
1. Select Search in the Main Menu
2. Select by keywords
3. Enter artist and/or title keywords; DO NOT use “and,” “or,” or other boolean operators in your search
4. Click on the Search button
Tips for effective keyword searching:
- Truncate search terms with *
e.g., photo* will retrieve photograph, photographs, photography, photos, etc.
- Narrow your search with more keywords
- Broaden your search with fewer keywords
Insight permits searching within individual data fields, such as Artist name, Date, Museum, etc. To search within individual data fields:
1. Select Search in the Main Menu
2. Select by data fields
3. Select the desired data field
4. Select a value from the provided list and click on Select; if a list does not appear, follow the prompts for a boolean search
