Film and Video Collections, Circulation, and Viewing

VMR makes available to faculty, students, and staff an extensive film and video collection of over 6,000 unique titles in a variety of formats to support teaching and learning across the curriculum of the Institute. The physical collection is supplemented with streaming video subscriptions through Alexander Street Press and Kanopy. For more information, see the Film and Video at the Pratt Institute Libraries Guide, or search for items on PrattCat, the Libraries’ online catalog. Faculty, Students, and Staff are encouraged to make recommendations for additions to the collection by sending an email to video.library@pratt.edu.

The collection of DVDs, VHS tapes, and 16mm films circulate from the Lower Level of the Library. Students, faculty and staff may circulate up to four DVDs at a time for seven days and may renew them once for a total of 14 days. Late fees for DVDs are $1.00 per item per day. A selection of the 16mm titles is also available to circulate for seven days, although these titles may not be renewed and late fees are $5.00 per item per day. A limited number of 16mm projectors are available to circulate through the Equipment Loan Circulation Office. See Borrow and Renew for more information.

Faculty may place any films from the collection on one-time or full semester reserve for their classes by contacting video.library@pratt.edu with the following information: title of the DVD as it appears in the library catalog, course name and number, date needed, and type of reservation (one-time or full semester).

To view DVDs, VHS tapes, and 16mm films that are not allowed to circulate outside of the Library or are on reserve for classes, viewing stations and a screening room are also available on the Lower Level. Viewing stations are available on a first come first serve basis, but the Lower Level screening room must be requested by sending an email to room.library@pratt.edu.
